Not your usual sound system.
Welcome to our newly expanded Aether site. The place to find all things Aether, M4 and Malcolm Hill related. This is also the place to meet the crew, check specs and read about the incredible history of this legendary sound system. Yes this really was part of the Live Aid PA in 1985 (you can see it in shot during Queen’s performance when Freddie Mercury dances by the side of the stage). And yes it’s true it was later owned and toured by AC/DC for their "Who Made Who" tour of 1986. This was also the sound system that launched the first Monsters of Rock concert at Castle Donington in 1981 to 70,000 diehard rock fans and introduced the world to the mighty M4 system. That same year it appeared in the Guinness book of Records for the loudest ever recorded concert with AC/DC on stage setting a new world record with an ear-staggering 130db! One of the last outings of this now famous rig before AC/DC took it abroad, was at the historic Knebworth festival in 1986. This turned out to be a landmark moment in music history for it was the last time Queen were to play live together on stage. 120,000 fans got to witness one of rock`s greatest moments that night. With so many historic appearances from Live Aid, Monsters of Rock, Knebworth, Glastonbury, tours by AC/DC, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Saxon, Marillion and scours of others this legendary sound system has possibly the richest history of any in the world.
And now the best bit... a big chunk of it is here in the sunny southwest. Yes, after nearly twenty five years of being away in the U.S gathering dust the mighty Hill M4 sound system has finally returned and being made available to all music lovers in the area.
We really want you to experience the full effect of this system for yourself and invite you to come along to our next event. Alternatively please give us a call and it would be our pleasure to demo a pair of cabs/amps at our studio. We make great tea and love chatting with other music enthusiasts along the way. We'd particularly like to hear from event organisers, fund raisers, and musicians working together within limited budgets. Bringing people together with the best quality of sound possible is what we're passionate about... and its fun!
